Why do we like Whispering Canyon Cafe?

Greg and I stayed at Wilderness Lodge for our 20th anniversary trip and couldn’t wait to try Whispering Canyon Cafe. I had read about it online and clients had told me how much they enjoyed it so I was excited. I was, however, not prepared for just how much we would like it. So much, in fact, that we ate there twice during our trip! The food is delicious but the atmosphere is the thing that will keep you coming back every trip.

The theming goes along with Wilderness Lodge which is Pacific Northwest. The chair backs have either a cowboy or an indian on them, The napkins are bandanas and you drink out of canning jars. Servers are dressed in pioneer-themed clothing. The kids parade around the restaurant on stick horses and recite a pledge that includes “never ever going to Universal”. It’s a lot of fun for kids and adults!

Whispering Canyon Cafe is another place where the servers will mess with the guests. We love it! It makes a meal so much fun. Some people don’t agree and would prefer to enjoy their meal and not participate in the antics. When you are seated you are given a round coaster that is green on one side and red on the other. if you want to eat and not be bothered, put the red side up. If you are up for being messed and joked with, put the green side up.

I’m not going to give you any information that would spoil it for you, but i do have one story to tell that is too funny not to share. Our first meal there was for dinner. A gentleman a couple tables away was celebrating a birthday. His server carried out a cupcake with a candle on it and everyone sang Happy Birthday to him. He blew out the candle, and the server took a bite of his cupcake!! The man’s face was priceless. Of course after a minute the server presented another cupcake for the gentleman to enjoy. It was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen!

The picture above on the left is the bottomless skillet served at Whispering Canyon Cafe. It is very popular. As long as you keep eating, they will keep refilling. It features ribs, pulled pork, roasted chicken, fresh veggies, mashed potatoes, cowboy beans and corn on the cob. You also get a salad and cornbread. The picture on the right is their western chips with queso and salsa and quesadilla appetizers. It was all delicious.

There is also a bottomless breakfast option which includes eggs, breakfast home fries, breakfast meats, waffles, biscuits and gravy. It is just as delicious as the bottomless skillet. The omelets are very good also.

How Much Does Whispering Canyon Cafe Cost?
