Today is week five in my blog series about my favorite restaurants at Disneyworld and is all about another wonderful character meal, Tusker House. Located at Animal Kingdom, Tusker House is the hidden gem of character meals at Disneyworld. In my opinion, it’s the best place to eat at Animal Kingdom.

If you missed them, read my previous posts aboutHoop Dee Doo Revue, Chef Mickey’s, 50s Prime Time Cafe and Whispering Canyon Cafe.

Why do we like Tusker House?

Our first ever character meal on our first trip to Disneyworld was at Animal Kingdom for breakfast at Breakfastosaurus at Restaurantosaurus. We loved it! It has since moved to Tusker House and all three meals include characters. We love it even more! The food is delicious. The character interaction is phenomenal and the decor is just amazing!

The buffet area is designed to look like an open-air market with several tables of food. Tusker House does not operate like a standard buffet. Guests are free to wander from table to table filling their plates and not stay in one spot in a line as they move through.

The character interaction at Tusker House is fantastic! The characters are dressed in their safari gear and visit each table taking pictures and signing autographs. Usual characters are Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto and Daisy. Here are a few pics from out last trip:

We always like to do a late breakfast at Tusker House. You can find standard American breakfast foods like eggs, breakfast potatoes, bacon, sausage and of course Mickey waffles. You will also find foods with an African influence like bobotie, coconut sweet potato casserole, sweet plantains and more.

Lunch includes items like basmati rice, carved meats, fish of the day, vegetarian dishes, vegetables, potatoes and more. Dinner includes breads with dips, spit-roasted chicken, beef, shredded mojo pork, salad, various vegetable dishes. Also included are African favorites basmati rice and curry chicken.
