Resort Spotlight: Art of Animation

Next in our series of posts featuring Walt Disney World Resort hotels is Disney’s newest resort, Art of Animation.
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort opened in 2012 with some amazingly themed family suites and standard rooms offering families a chance to feel like they are part of the movies the rooms are themed after. The main building is Animation Hall and includes the front desk, concierge, Ink and Paint Shop, the Landscape of Flavors eatery, and the arcade. Behind Animation Hall is the Finding Nemo section which also features the largest resort pool in Walt Disney World,the Big Blue Pool. Inspired by the Disney-Pixar movie, the pool features state-of-the-art underwater speakers, which is a first for Disney Resort hotels. There is also an interactive water play area for little ones is located nearby.


ACCOMMODATIONS
There are 1,120 family suites spread througout three sections themed in The Lion King, Finding Nemo and Cars. There are also 864 Little Mermaid themed standard rooms. The family suites sleep up to 6 plus one child under age 3 in a crib and are ideal for larger families. The suites include a bedroom with one queen-size bed; one double-size convertible table bed; one double-size sleeper sofa; living room; 2 bathrooms and a kitchenette. The Little Mermaid standard rooms have 2 double beds and sleep 4 guests.



DINING
Located in Animation Hall, Landscape of Flavors is a quick-service dining location serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Drop Off, a poolside snack bar, is located next to the Big Blue Pool. There is also pizza delivery service.


RECREATION
Art of Animation features 3 pools. The largest, The Big Blue Pool, is located in the Finding Nemo courtyard and actually has 3 sections….the pool area where you can hear sounds from Finding Nemo underwater, the School Yard wet play area and Squirt’s Righteous Reef which has no water. Also, the Cozy Cone pool is located in Cars area and Flippin Fins pool is located in the Little Mermaid section. The Pixel arcade is located in Animation Hall.
TRANSPORTATION
There is one bus stop located in front of Animation Hall. Bus transportation is provided to all Walt Disney World theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, and other resort hotels (transfer required).
